first_imgSAINT LOUIS, Mo. – Drake University junior Reed Timmer (New Berlin, Wis.) has been named to the Missouri Valley Conference’s men’s basketball All-MVC third team, the conference announced Tuesday, Feb. 28.Timmer, a guard, has started all 30 games to date for the Bulldogs and scored in double figures in 26 of them. He leads Drake in scoring with 15.4 points per game to rank fourth in the MVC. Timmer also ranks third in the MVC shooting 82.9 percent from the free throw line and his 362 career free throws are the fourth most in program history.Timmer, who has scored 462 points this season, now ranks ninth among Drake’s all-time scorers with 1,337 career points. Timmer became the 24th Bulldog to record 1,000 career points on Dec. 10 against Jackson State.The honor is the fifth MVC postseason accolade of Timmer’s career. As a freshman, he was named to the MVC All-Newcomer and All-Freshman teams. Following his sophomore campaign, Timmer was named honorable mention All-MVC as well as the MVC Scholar Athlete of the Year. Timmer was also named MVC Scholar-Athlete of the Week twice this season, as well as being named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team.Timmer and the Bulldogs begin MVC Tournament play on Thursday, Mar. 2, as the No. 10 seed against seventh-seeded Bradley.
